Feeling For | A Brief Note

For the amount of consideration men are giving to tailored suits and good jeans these days, it’s astonishing that when it comes to what to wear underneath, they’re much less discerning. Exposed waistbands often reveal oversize logos and patterns that would not otherwise be acceptable in any other kind of garment — which is to say nothing of the entire genre of action-hero-inspired underwear. Thankfully, a slew of undergarment-centric brands are offering cleaner, more minimal options in nicer fabrics, slim fits and rid of any obnoxious branding. Special Delivery is a New York-based company that uses incredibly soft and durable supima cotton from North Carolina to cut its range of comfortable briefs ($36) and these slightly shorter, trimmer boxers ($48; specialdeliverynyc.com). Sunspel, under the consultation of the young British designer-of-the-moment J. W. Anderson, and the Swedish-based Bread & Boxers (packaged appropriately in white bread bags) are also making uncomplicated undies.
