Barbour Classic Quilted Waistcoat question

Ive recently bought a Barbour Classic Quilted Waistcoat to use zipped inside my Barbour Beaufort. My questions are: Would you wear it alone ( without having it zipped inside the jacket)? If so, what would you wear under the vest? I bought it kind off large sized, how should they fit?

I do this occasionally. I never zip it up, and I generally wear it over a OBCD with rolled-up sleeves and khakis or jeans. I guess it fits loose.

I do the same with mine (OCBD, khakis). I bought mine to fit just so in the beaufort that it didn't have any bunched up material, so it is pretty slim fitting when worn alone and zipped up, given that it has to close an additional 2-3". I'm not a waistcoat guy, but it seems like waistcoats are generally made to fit slim anyway.

?Be warned: at least a few people will think you look like a tourist on safari.
